Social Sites for Good

By Melissa Risteff, July 17, 2012

Good_blog_imageOne of the first challenges any organization faces when implementing a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) policy is how to manage security for all of the iPhones, iPads, Androids, etc. that employees use in the workplace. While both Apple (iOS) and Google (Android) provide some support for enterprise deployment through their respective operating systems, they don’t provide tools necessary to deploy or manage these devices. This is where Good Technologies comes in.

We first came across Good Technologies because of one of our clients, a large financial services company. Good wanted to know if we could integrate our mobile app, Social Sites 2010 for iOS with their “Good Dynamics” product. The benefit to the client would be better management of the deployment, security, and access of Social Sites for employees using iOS within their organization. In practical terms this means that when an employee brings their own iPhone or iPad into work and wants to install Social Sites on their phone, they can do it just as easily as installing any other iTunes app, but their employer can still maintain control over access and security to Social Sites. If the employee loses their iPhone, or takes another job, the company can easily revoke access to the Social Sites for Good app, without having to wipe the entire phone.

It’s an elegant solution, and easy to integrate, and provides the security and flexibility that a social organization needs. Hats off to the Good Dynamics team (especially for the great documentation)! If you’d like more information on Good Dynamics, visit this link.
