Would you like to drive higher adoption of your organization’s online communities?  Do you struggle with engaging users in your social network?  Then learn from the best – the United States Air Force.  Then sign up for NewsGator's upcoming event, "Community Best Practices -- Air Force Webinar."

Within the Air Force, vibrant online communities that engage learners and encourage mass collaboration are not science fiction.  In fact, since 2005, the Air Force has used online communities, forums, blogs, and social networks to drive social learning and professional networking among Air Force Officers.  Led by Lieutenant Colonel Michael J. Hower, the Air Force manages a world-class social media system that employs web 2.0 best practices for social learning and web 3.0 artificial intelligence systems for improving organizational knowledge discovery and transfer.  This global social learning and professional networking program is designed to change the way the Air Force learns and leads in the Twenty-first Century.

Join Lt Col Hower and Eric Sauve, VP of Tomoye for NewsGator, on March 2, 2010 2-3pm ET, as they discuss the Air Force’s social learning and networking system and share best practices for online community management.  Webinar topics will include:

  • An overview of the Air Force’s social networking system
  • Examples of successful online communities at the Air Force
  • Best practices for online community management

The featured speaker for this event is Lieutenant Colonel Mike Hower, who is currently the Commander of the 31st Student Squadron at Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama.  He also serves as Director of the Air Force Forums Research Project.  In this role he leads an all volunteer team composed of Air Force students and like-minded professionals interested in connecting and learning via social media.  This team manages a global social learning and professional networking program that is designed to change the way the Air Force learns in today's complex world.  The system uses Web 2.0 and Web 3.0 technologies to improve social media system utility, engage learners in the social space, and encourage mass collaboration.  In 2006, Lt Col Hower earned the Frances Hesselbein Leadership Award for creating the first-ever, online professional forum for Air Force squadron commanders and in 2009, his system was selected as the Air University model for social learning and professional networking.  To learn more about Lt Col Hower, visit his blog.
