I have always wanted to be an Olympian. Unfortunately I am not gifted with superior athletic abilities or a "Lance Armstrong level" of VO2 Max. So, instead I live vicariously through the lucky athletes that get to compete in The Games. I follow pre-Olympics trials, read Olympics news coverage, track metal counts by country, and of course watch as many events as possible.

Given my love of the Games, I am especially excited about NewsGator’s latest partnership. We are working with AFP to offer free Olympics widgets. The widgets contain AFP’s premium content and allow fans like me to take Olympics news to their favorite home page or social networking site.

But even more exciting than my ability to better track the Olympics is the fact that these widgets offer content owners and distributors a new syndication model. With this program, AFP is extending their brand and content to new online locations by allowing approved media companies to display the widgets on their sites. The result is exposure of AFP content to a wider online audience.

Not only does AFP benefit, but their media partners do as well. Media companies can co-brand the widget and with the widget they are providing their online audience with content that is in high demand. In addition, media companies receive a new stream of online revenue as NewsGator is guaranteeing a share of the widgets’ advertising revenue. Interested media companies can sign-up here.
