Spencer Stuart Improves Relevant Information Delivery with NewsGator Enterprise Server

By Melissa Risteff, June 05, 2006

This morning we announced that Spencer Stuart, one of the oldest and most respected Executive Search firms in the world, deployed NewsGator Enterprise Server to improve the way it delivers relevant information to its "search consultants," the folks who place executives in C-Level and board positions.  This is one of the most interesting use cases around Enterprise RSS that I have come across. For anyone that has ever used an executive search firm or been placed in a position by one, we all know that the most informed consultants tend to be the best. With all of the information from blogs, news stories and internal systems now available in RSS, companies such as Spencer Stuart have the ability to feed a lot more information to employees that will most benefit from it.

In Spencer Stuart's case, the highly experienced search consultants need the information, but aren't necessarily technologically-savvy enough to understand how to use RSS readers on their own. So the company chose NewsGator Enterprise Server (instead of providing individual-use readers) and took advantage of its API to deploy a system that will automatically provide company, individual and industry news automatically to its search consultants when they get a new assignment, directly in a folder in Outlook.  The search consultants don't need to know anything about RSS, but they still get relevant information, either through persistent searches or from researchers within the company.

This is a great example of how a company can really harness the power of RSS without having to get its employees intimately familiar with the technology. Spencer Stuart spent a little time to enable internal applications to publish in RSS, combined that with public information and deployed something that significantly enhances the way it delivers relevant information.  As Trapper Markelz, a senior project manager at the firm describes, "Delivering relevant, timely information in an easy-to-consume way is a challenge in most enterprises, but RSS is a great way to solve this problem. NewsGator's product allows users to gather this information in an easy, manageable way."
