SOFTWARE ENGINEER

Job Description – .Net/SharePoint Software Engineer

Develop and debug NewsGator applications in C#, .Net and SQL Server. While the candidate may be responsible for overall system architecture/design for a particular feature or capability, the candidate should expect software coding to be the primary function of this position. Only candidates with extensive SharePoint development experience will be considered.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Research, design and develop new features for company core products.
  • Design technical specifications for assigned features and architectural improvements. Candidate must be proficient in writing use cases and other supplemental requirements specifications as required.
  • Review and hand-off technical designs to test engineers in an effort to ensure quality delivery of product.
  • Participate in code design and code reviews with appropriate team members as necessary.
  • Develop and deliver to aggressive product release schedules working as a cooperative team member in an agile development environment.

Qualifications:

  • BS in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Strong software engineering and problem solving skills.
  • 3-5 years of professional SharePoint development experience.
  • 5-7 solid years of professional experience developing applications in .Net, C#, and C++.
  • Experience developing multi-threaded applications and Windows services is highly desired.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP, and other communications protocols is highly desired.
  • Experience developing web-enabled/Internet-based applications is mandatory.
  • Experience developing JavaScript, DHTML and AJAX or JSON based applications highly desired.
  • Ability to work effectively with SQL Server is highly desired.
  • Experience using Microsoft development technologies as an early adopter is highly desired.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into technical designs.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, prioritize, and execute tasks to meet critical project deadlines.

SENIOR SYSTEMS ENGINEER - NEWSGATOR PROFESSIONAL SERVICES

Job Description – Senior System Engineer

Provide technical implementation and configuration support for NewsGator product lines, including desktop products, Enterprise products, SharePoint solutions, web-based products, and NewsGator web services. This position is customer facing and requires frequent travel to / contact with NewsGator enterprise customers typically System Administrators, SharePoint Administrators, and IT function level management. Candidate must have strong technical background and deep consulting experience.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide primary installation and configuration support for NewsGator Enterprise Products to new and existing NewsGator customers.
  • Provide detailed configuration assistance of NewsGator products in SharePoint environments and troubleshooting of system overlap / integration between NewsGator products and SharePoint.
  • Troubleshoot Windows Server environments and application issues as it relates to product implementation and operation.
  • Diagnose and resolve all problems related to NewsGator product(s) and system operation, availability, security, performance, connectivity, and overall function during an implementation.
  • Build internal system environments mirroring customer development, test and production environments to include MS IIS, database, SharePoint, AD, and NewsGator components.
  • Provide in-depth investigation, analysis, and timely resolution of customer issues and problems.
  • Report and escalate customer problems and enhancements to development and product management as appropriate, including detailed explanation of issue and recommended resolution.
  • Provide clear, well documented description of problems that require technical fix or resolution by Software Engineers.
  • Create, maintain, and enhance product(s) knowledge base, including technical articles, FAQ’s, sample applications, and/or demonstrations.
  • Assist with Pre-Sales activities and events as appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • BS in Business Information System, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 8 years of consulting or software professional service experience.
  • Minimum 5 years experience supporting Microsoft server technologies.
  • Expertise with Microsoft SharePoint 2003/2007 and MOSS technologies including web part deployment, site definitions and features.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Windows Server implementation and ongoing system administration, including related server applications: IIS, Active Directory, Exchange, DNS, DHCP, and networking protocols.
  • Working knowledge of SQL Server 2005 implementation and ongoing system administration.
  • Working knowledge of HTML, HTTP(s), and XML.
  • Knowledge of and exposure to RSS.
  • Proven ability to manage and solve complex customer support issues in a dynamic environment.
  • Proven ability to effectively interact and manage customer issues either onsite or remotely, including difficult and potentially hostile customer interactions.

Desired Skills:

  • 10 years of consulting or software professional service experience.
  • Expertise with Microsoft SharePoint 2003/2007 and MOSS technologies in a consulting capacity.

ENTERPRISE SUPPORT ENGINEER

Job Description – Enterprise Support Engineer

Provide 1st and 2nd level technical support for NewsGator product lines, including desktop products, Enterprise products, SharePoint solutions, web-based products, and NewsGator web services. This position is customer facing and requires frequent contact with NewsGator enterprise customers typically System Administrators and IT function level management. Candidate must be well versed in all aspects of customer support.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide primary implementation, configuration, and ongoing support for NewsGator Enterprise Products to existing and new NewsGator customers.
  • Provide detailed configuration assistance in SharePoint environments.
  • Support and troubleshoot Windows Server environments and application issues as it relates to product implementation and operation.
  • Work on-site and remotely to diagnose and resolve emergency and chronic problems related to our product(s) and system operation, availability, security, performance, connectivity, and overall function.
  • Regularly communicate with NewsGator enterprise customers regarding problems, issues, questions, and concerns with NewsGator products as implemented at the customer location.
  • Provide in-depth investigation, analysis, and timely resolution of customer issues and problems.
  • Report and escalate customer problems and enhancements to development and product management as appropriate, including detailed explanation of issue and recommended resolution.
  • Create, maintain, and enhance product(s) knowledge base, including technical articles, FAQ’s, sample applications, and/or demonstrations.
  • Own in-depth investigation of customer issues, including issues not previously addressed via documented resolution.
  • Provide clear, well documented description of problems that require technical fix or resolution by Software Engineers.
  • Provide product(s) customer and internal training as appropriate, including system level technical training.
  • Assist with Pre-Sales activities and events as appropriate.
  • Provide support for other NewsGator products, such as NewsGator Inbox, FeedDemon, Mobile, and NetNewsWire as necessary.
  • Maintain exceptional customer service skills.

Qualifications:

  • BS in Business Information System, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • Expertise with Microsoft SharePoint 2003/2007 and MOSS technologies including web part deployment, site definitions and features.
